We are seeking a visionary Senior Vice President of Youth Development and Child Care to lead the design and delivery of high-impact programs that empower youth from early childhood through young adulthood.
As the SVP of Youth Development and Child Care, you will drive a dynamic, year-round strategy that nurtures achievement, belonging, and success for thousands of young people across our region. You will serve as a senior leader guiding the vision, partnerships, and operations that position the YMCA as a leader in youth-serving organizations.
What you will do at the Y:
Strategic Vision: Develop and implement a comprehensive youth development strategy aligned with YMCA values, community needs, and best practices.
Program Innovation: Lead the creation of innovative, impactful, holistic, and age-appropriate programs in early learning, out of school time and summer camp.
Operational Excellence: Optimize policies and procedures across the association to ensure consistency, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Child Safety: Champion youth protection policies and practices while leading compliance with all licensure and safety regulations in the DMV area.
Community Partnerships: Cultivate strategic relationships with schools, local organizations, and regional leaders to address issues such as the achievement gap and bullying.
Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and manage high-performing exempt staff across the Youth Development department.
Evaluation & Impact: Implement data-driven tools and assessments to evaluate program effectiveness and inform future growth.
Resource Development: Work collaboratively with philanthropy team to identify funding opportunities to expand number of children served.

Who You Are:
Experienced Executive: Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field required.
Proven Leader: Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in youth development or a related multi-site setting.
Compliance-Savvy: Deep understanding of licensing requirements and child safety regulations in the DMV area.
Strategic & Analytical: Skilled in strategic planning, budget oversight, and use of data to guide decision-making.
Relationship-Builder: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with staff, families, funders, and partners.
Mission-Driven: Passionate about youth empowerment, and advancing the mission of the YMCA.
Research-Informed: Deep knowledge of current research and trends in youth development, including emerging best practices, innovation, and the evolving landscape of youth service providers.
Positive Youth Development (PYD) Framework: Demonstrated ability to design and lead programs using a strengths-based, PYD approach that promotes youth voice, engagement, and growth.
Curriculum Design: Experience in developing age-appropriate curriculum that supports leadership, social-emotional learning, and life skills.
Pipeline Development: Skilled in building and sustaining a youth development pipeline that supports participants from birth through young adulthood, including key transitions such as early education, school-age care, teen leadership, and career exploration.
Metrics & Impact: Ability to design and implement tools that measure the long-term outcomes and community impact of YMCA youth programs, using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
