Helen R. Walton Children’s Enrichment Center is looking for a visionary leader to champion our mission of high-quality early childhood education and family support. If you’re ready to make a lasting impact on children and families in Northwest Arkansas, we want to hear from you!
In 1981, the Northwest Arkansas community gathered to discuss a challenge: a lack of adequate childcare services in the region. Helen Walton, a visionary community leader, recognized that business growth in Bentonville would benefit greatly from access to high quality childcare. She advocated for a Center that would meet the needs of both executives and front-line workers and through her vision, financial support, and hard work – along with other community leaders – the Helen R. Walton Children’s Enrichment Center opened.
HWCEC classrooms have ratios lower than state mandates and are staffed with experienced and degreed teachers. Families are provided with substantial support services such as a resource library, community resources, food assistance, and access to early childhood professionals who provide information and activities including Kindergarten Readiness Indicators. There is significant pride in the scholarship program that ensures that high quality early childhood experiences are available to all members of the Bentonville community.
DESIRED SKILLSET
Emotional Intelligence: consistent, open engagement and connection with staff, board, families, funders, and community stakeholders
Collaborative leader: strengthens partnerships, enhances donor relationships, and elevates the Center’s visibility and impact in the community
Educational leader: passion for and knowledge about early childhood learning; understanding of the field, best practices, and current challenges and opportunities
Financial acumen: experience in financial management and sustainability planning
Culture builder: fosters a high-performing, supportive workplace with a balanced approach to leadership, delegation, and transparency
Leadership presence: decisive leader, strategic thinker, and creative problem solver who will lead HWCEC to the next level
Board partner: motivate and organize members’ participation; provide excellent reporting, context and communications
Operational excellence: oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance and maintaining high quality programs and facilities
