SUMMARY:
The Assistant Professor is held in Curriculum and Instruction Department in the College of Education and Human Services. This is a 9-month tenure-track position. The person in this position will be responsible for, but not limited to, teaching undergraduate level Early Childhood education courses, graduate level Early Childhood education courses, and field supervision of clinical teachers. Field supervision may require travel around the DFW area. Beyond teaching, this person will conduct and maintain a research agenda and conduct applicable service, as required by the department.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach Early Childhood education courses, which may include early field experiences.
- Supervise Clinical Teachers in the DFW and/or northeast Texas region.
- Work in a field-based center with a faculty team for seminars and professional development of Clinical Teachers.
- Teach content and pedagogy specifically related to EC-6 learning to pre-service teacher candidates.
- Advise students seeking EC-6 teacher certification.
- Maintain a research agenda.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Early Childhood Education, Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction or related field, with 18 hours of documented Early Education coursework at the doctoral level.
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: A minimum of 3 years public school classroom teaching experience.
- Ability to: Multi-task and work well as part of a team.
- Licensing/Professional Certifications: Texas teaching certificate for EC-6 or EC-3
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
- Prior experience teaching undergraduates in a teacher education program.
- Supervision of early field experience for undergraduates in a teacher education program.
- Clinical Teacher Field supervision experience.
- Scholarly publication record or potential.
