The University of Michigan is seeking candidates for the position of Director of the University of Michigan North Campus Children’s Center. This Reggio Emilia inspired, nationally accredited program serves approximately 120 children ages three months to five years, and is one of three U-M Children’s Centers on the Ann Arbor campus. We seek a dynamic, inspirational, knowledgeable leader who will effectively collaborate with our staff, families and colleagues to continue development of this vibrant community.

What You'll Do
Early Childhood Education:

Provide leadership and expertise in early childhood education, including philosophy, program development, curriculum, child assessment and family involvement.

Develop policies to guide center operations.

Build relationships with families, staff and with the campus community.
Administration, Operations and Budget:

Oversee center administration and daily operations.

Oversee recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of employees, which includes approximately thirty-five regular employees, U-M students, interns and substitutes.

Prepare and administer center budget including revenue and cost forecasting, setting tuition rates, and analyzing market comparisons.
Required Qualifications*

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field meeting State of Michigan Licensing requirements; Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum of three years of experience in administration of a children’s center plus a minimum of three years of early childhood teaching. Prefer experience administering a large center.

Experience with infant/toddler care

Deep expertise about infant/toddler/preschooler social and emotional development.

Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for early childhood education.

Knowledge and experience with Reggio Emilia philosophy required.
- Experience with Child Care Center Licensing procedures required.

Knowledge of Learning Stories assessments preferred.

Knowledge of outdoor, nature based classrooms preferred.
