The Los Angeles County Office of Education and its Division of Head Start and Early Learning, invites well-qualified candidates with strong leadership skills to apply for the Assistant Director, Fiscal Control and Accountability position.
The Head Start & Early Learning Division at LACOE is one of the largest in the nation and contracts with various early childhood education (ECE) agencies that employ a staff of more than 3,000 people to provide direct services to children from birth to five years old and their families within diverse communities throughout Los Angeles County.
Under administrative direction, plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs the activities and staff of the Fiscal Control and Accountability unit; provides ongoing budgetary, fiscal, and operational support for the Head Start and Early Learning division and delegate agencies to support child outcomes and school readiness for kindergarten; develops facilities monitoring procedures to ensure safe learning environments for children; and ensures the division achieves its primary responsibility of countywide and regional planning, resource development, monitoring and accountability, and training and technical assistance in fiscal management and facilities oversight.
Education: A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in business administration, finance, accounting, public administration, or a field related to the job requirements of this classification, from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accreditation association as recognized by the Council for Higher Education. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience: Five years of experience managing fiscal and operation services, including three years of management experience in Head Start or other early childhood services programs with federal and state funding.
Additional Requirements: A master’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting preferred. A valid California driver’s license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites is required.
