The primary focus of this position is the oversight of all aspects of the Children Center’s program. The person in this position is responsible for ensuring a safe and high-quality early learning environment that meets the developmental needs of young children.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintain continued Program Licensure, NAEYC Accreditation and Virginia Quality Rating.
Maintain a warm and safe physical environment that is clean, orderly, appealing and conducive to the optimal growth and development of children.
Employ, supervise and evaluate all teachers and staff members.
Ensure that the Creative Curriculum is implemented and individualized to meet the needs of the children.
Work with Center specialists and community agencies to obtain specialized early support services for eligible children.
Promote good Center relations with parents and the community
Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain all vacation and sick leave records for all employees.
Ensure orderly, accurate and timely bookkeeping and cash management processes.
Work with the Board and Development Director on optimizing fundraising resources, including the development plan and reviewing proposals
Promote the Center to potential parents, donors, community and church groups, businesses and government representatives.
Develop the Center budget in cooperation with the accountant, Board Treasurer and Finance Committee; provide the board with accurate financials; prepare for annual audit.
Maintain the Policies and Procedures Manual and a process to assure regular review thereof.
Perform other duties consistent with maintaining an exemplary program.
Master's Degree in ECE/Child Development or an equivalent area preferred. Highly qualified candidates with a Bachelor’s degree will be considered.
At least five years experience in an early childhood program as a teacher and two years as an administrator.
Expertise acquired through formal education and experience in administration, including general management, organizational leadership, human resource and financial management.
Experience working with children with a variety of learning styles and needs.
