Long Beach Community College is seeking a fun, passionate, playful, educated, professional Child Care Assistant for our Child Development Center and Learning Lab at either one of our beautiful campuses (Liberal Arts or Pacific Coast Campuses). As a Child Care Assistant, you will be supporting classrooms and gaining hands-on experience while working with children and families. In a nutshell, our Child Care Assistants:
Must have 12 core units in early childhood education (unofficial transcripts MUST be submitted with the application to be considered)

Type of positions:Part-time and temporary positions. The current vacancy is assigned the hours of: (position #1)Monday- Friday from 8:00 am - 11:48 am and (position #2) Monday - Friday12:10 pm - 3:58 pm.
Location: Child Development Center at either campuses (LAC or PCC)
Salary: Range 1 - 5 Steps, from $988.63-$1,204.33 Monthly
Eligibility list: Valid for 6 months once approved by the Personnel Commission

Duties JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of a Child Development Center Teacher or Associate Teacher, assist in providing care, guidance and developmentally appropriate learning and socialization experiences for infant, toddler and/or preschool-aged children to encourage and facilitate positive social and cognitive learning. Duties are carried out in a learning laboratory classroom setting with District Early Childhood Education (ECE) students.
At least 12 units in early childhood education with passing grades at an accredited or approved college or university. Unofficial transcripts MUST be submitted with the application to be considered. Educational course requirements include: - Child Growth and Development (3 units) - Child, Family & Community (3 units) - Principles and Practices (3 units) - Any other 3 unit Early Childhood Education/Child Development course)
and a minimum of 25 days of three-plus (3+) hours per day within 2 years.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
Results of a TB test performed within 60 days of hire date.
Fingerprints, Child Abuse Index, and FBI check submitted and cleared to the Department of Justice and on file with/or reported to the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division prior to employment.
