The CESJDS Junior Kindergarten is a school-based, early childhood program that balances academics and play in a developmentally appropriate setting. It focuses on real world experiences, structured fun, learning through play and song, and building community. The general studies (GS) teaching position in this classroom is a 10-month position, paid on our faculty pay scale.

This GS teaching position will require an individual who demonstrates a passion for early childhood and early elementary education, background in special education, a palpable love for and warmth with young children, and a whole-child approach to teaching, which includes differentiation and attention to social-emotional development. Candidates will possess the following skills and dispositions:
a progressive approach to education
excellent written and verbal communication skills
ease and comfort with parent collaboration and communication
experience with instruction in pre and early literacy and numeracy
experience with integrating technology into pedagogy
a commitment to partnering with colleagues within and across subject disciplines and grade levels
the ability to create and foster an inclusive and communal learning environment
reflective practice and openness to feedback
A Bachelor's degree with certification in Early Childhood Education and/or Elementary Education is required, with a Master's degree preferred and at least 2 years of successful, formal teaching experience in a public or independent school.
