Job Description Position Summary: Nevada State College (NSC) invites applications for the position of School of Education Special Programs Coordinator—Northern Nevada.
About Nevada State College: Founded in 2002, NSC is a four-year public college located on a developing 512-acre campus in the foothills of Henderson, Nevada (adjacent to Las Vegas). Core Responsibilities/Essential Skills:
Demonstrate and model best pedagogical (teaching) practices when teaching courses and seminars that enroll high school and /or college students who are preparing for a career in K-12 teaching
Demonstrate and utilize best practices in the supervision of teacher education majors during clinical field experiences in order to foster positive growth in teaching candidates
Use strong communication skills to effectively interact with community-college and K-12 administrators, faculty, and staff in the visioning and implementation of collaborative programs that will move individuals into the K-12 teacher pipeline and/or move individuals into additional pathway programs that NSC forges with TMCC or WNC
Use strong program assessment skills that document the impact of special programs upon program graduates, community college partners, partnering high schools, and the NSC SOE (School of Education)/NSC campus
Use strong communication skills to effectively interact with K-12 teachers and administrators and with college-based faculty, staff, and administrators to bolster interest and enrollment in collaborative programs
Use strong communication and organization skills to effectively interact with prospective students and parents at college fairs, career fairs/admission sessions set in high schools, outreach events, and community events (knowledge of degree programs, admissions, financial aid, and scholarship programs)
Ability to manage own schedule, keep appointments, time management, and be self-motivated
Ability to handle multiple projects or events (multi-task) and work in a fast paced environment
Experience serving as a licensed classroom teacher and/or administrator in a K-12 education setting and/or working in a college-level teacher preparation program
Excellent communication skills (oral & written) and ability to speak and present to large and small groups
A successful history of interacting effectively / establishing positive relationships with diverse groups / a variety of constituencies (i.e. students, faculty, staff, outside contacts, etc.)
Computer proficient (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must have current Driver's license and registered vehicle

Salary & Benefits Budgeted salary range for this position is $47,000 - $49,000. Nevada State College offers excellent benefits, including 15.25% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 11 paid holidays, educational benefits, and the choice of two health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
