We are seeking candidates for the position of Director of our preschool program. We are a church-based program located in Memphis, Tennessee serving children from 12 weeks to 5 years. We are a full day, year-round program. We currently have 111 students, with hopes to expand. We have consistently earned the highest three-star rating with the Tennessee Department of Human Services and an excellent reputation in our community.
Candidates must hold at least a bachelor’s degree and one year experience in a child care setting. They must possess a solid understanding of classroom management and child development. Business, management or related experience is highly desired. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are a must as well as organizational skills and computer skills. The ideal candidate is flexible with a positive attitude and has a commitment to the welfare and education of young children. Candidates must be able to meet all TN state child care regulations and licensure.
The Director is responsible for management of all preschool center operations and supervision of a staff of 26. The Director will ensure the needs of the students and the goals of the school are met.

The Day School provides quality education and care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers by helping them reach appropriate developmental milestones in a safe and nurturing environment.

The School Director is responsible for all aspects of the daily operation of the Day School to ensure the social, emotional, and academic development of students, including but not limited to the following: staff hiring and oversight, curriculum and instruction, student recruitment and enrollment, parent and family engagement and communication, business and budget management, supply orders, and coordination with the church.
Full-time, 12-months, M-F
Work hours will vary: Standard hours of the school run from 9:00 to 3:00, with early-care beginning at 7:30 and aftercare lasting until 5:30
Reports to: Personnel & Day School Committees, Minister to Children & Families
Key Relationships: Students, Parents, Teachers, Church Financial Secretary
Measures of Success
Achieves 85% satisfaction among key stakeholders (including parents and teachers)
Maintains annual child care license from the Tennessee Department of Human Services
by ensuring compliance with all state rules and regulations
Coach and develop a team of 25-30 teachers, assistants, and floaters
Provide training and support for staff to meet personalized goals
Conduct annual performance reviews for all staff
Lead regular staff meetings
Solicit staff feedback regularly to continually improve the school
Develop and disseminate formal mid-year and end-of-year staff surveys
Identify personnel issues and take appropriate action, as necessary
Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff, as necessary
Student Recruitment & Enrollment
Develop and implement plans for marketing, advertising, and recruitment to maintain optimal enrollment numbers
Conduct tours for prospective families
Parent & Family Engagement
Write weekly parent newsletter, as well as other parent communication as necessary
Maintain the website and social media presence for the school
Develop and disseminate mid-year and end-of-year parent survey
Host regular family outreach events
Business & Budget Management
Maintain annual child care license by ensuring compliance with state rules and regulations
Prepare annual operating budget, including tuition scale and staff compensation plan
Purchasing required supplies and equipment
Identify and plan for facilities maintenance needs
Qualifications & Traits
Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area
At least three (3) years of classroom teaching experience
At least one (2) years of supervisory leadership experience
Knowledge of Tennessee child care licensing requirements and procedures
Knowledge of curriculum content, instructional methods, and child developmental needs
Strong interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written
Warm and firm demeanor, able to deliver positive and negative feedback, and courage to have difficult conversations
Approachable, soliciting input and encouraging collaboration
