The Trinity Preschool, an educational cornerstone for nearly 35 years in Lower Manhattan’s Battery Park City, is searching for a Preschool Director. At Trinity, we nurture wholeness in mind, body and spirit of our infants, toddlers and preschoolers from three months to five years of age. Our preschool is affiliated with Trinity Church Wall Street—located at the head of Wall Street—which has been part of New York City’s and our nation’s history since its charter in 1697. We are an Episcopal parish offering daily worship services and faith formation programs at Trinity Church, St. Paul’s Chapel, and online at www.trinitywallstreet.org. Our Preschool Director provides leadership and governance of our preschool operations by overseeing all academic, programming, financial and operational aspects of the school in alignment with Trinity Church Wall Street’s mission and core values. Trinity is seeking an experienced and accomplished educational leader who is caring, compassionate, mission- and outcomes-driven, and has a track record of leading the educational initiatives in premier, purpose-driven preschool settings. Trinity Preschool is a member of the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY) and the National Association of Episcopal Schools (NAES).
Demonstrate leadership and governance of school’s daily operations.
Market program to community and interview families applying to the school.
Oversee the Preschool and Nursery’s annual budget and assist as appropriate with the Financial Aid program.
Develop strategic plans for the school, including financial, educational, professional development, health and safety.
Set standards and oversee provision of an early childhood program of excellence to align with NAES, NAEYC, ISAAGNY and NYC’s DOH guidelines.
Closely collaborate with the school chaplain and serve as the school’s spiritual leader, per NAES expectations.
Collaborate with Trinity departments to ensure seamless and timely support for school operations.
Maintain licenses and permits for school operations as per DOH and building code requirements.
Conduct classroom observations, provide feedback and determine training goals for educational team.
Meet regularly with direct reports and teaching teams, set goals, and develop plans of action.
Review and advise on classroom curriculum both for the classroom and Children’s Chapel.
Facilitate professional development of staff especially through design and conduct of in-house training.
Design and co-ordinate health, safety and emergency procedures for staff and student population.
Provide oversight of the curriculum and all programming; assisting with the development of plans of action or involvement of third parties when required.
Oversee the compilation of children’s school reports for on-going schools, Early Intervention, CPSE, and evaluation agencies.
Provide support to parents through the Kindergarten application process.
Promote and foster strong home–school partnerships via modeling and scheduling of talks, conferences and meetings.
Inform parents, make appropriate referrals and develop action plans with teaching teams when problems or delays are noted in a child’s development or behavior and provide supporting documentation/data.
Support and engage in the work of the Parents Association.
Participate in E.I. or C.P.S.E. meetings.
Act as a liaison with educational institutions to support hiring of staff or hosting student teachers.
Maintain annual physical and appropriate testing or vaccinations as per NYC DOH’s Article # 47.
Act as a state mandated reporter and notify the Director or designee any incident (suspected or witnessed) of abuse (verbal, emotional, or physical), neglect or maltreatment of a child.
Coordinate with contractors to ensure quality standards are provided and maintained per DOH and Trinity standards.
Extend hospitality to visitors and model standards for staff.
Support and coordinate committee projects which support and strengthen the school community.
Promote and facilitate local, national, and global relations.
Adhere to confidentiality rules and all other Trinity Church Wall Street policies, procedures and rules.
Perform all duties in a manner that promotes Trinity’s mission and core values.
Assume other related responsibilities and special projects as required.

Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education required (preferably in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education or related field) and New York State Teacher Certification
A minimum of five years of experience of administrative and supervisory experience in an early childhood or elementary school setting
Possession of NYS permanent teacher certification: Birth – 2 and/N-6
Demonstrated maintenance of annual physical and appropriate testing and/or vaccinations, in compliance with New York City’s Board of Health of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOH) Article #47 (section 47.13)
Expertise in management, evaluation and supervision of nursery and/or preschool faculty
Ability to oversee the fiscal management of a nursery and/or preschool operation
Ability to understand and comply with NYC’s DOH guidelines
Ability to design, prepare and conduct teacher training
Sound business judgment
Capacity to lead and manage staff
Ability to collaborate with others, think strategically, and lead decisively
Excellent communicator with outstanding interpersonal, oral and written skills
